ASBESTOS LITIGATION: Illinois Tool Still Facing Welding Lawsuits
Illinois Tool Works Inc. and its subsidiaries, Hobart Brothers Company and Miller Electric Mfg. Co., still face lawsuits alleging injury from exposure to welding consumables, according to the Company's 2008 annual report filed with the Securities and Exchange Commission.
The plaintiffs in these suits claim unspecified damages for injuries resulting from the plaintiffs' alleged exposure to asbestos, manganese and toxic fumes in connection with the welding process.
Headquartered in Glenview, Ill., Illinois Tool Works Inc. is a multinational manufacturer of a diversified range of industrial products and equipment with 875 operations in 54 countries. These 875 businesses are internally reported as 60 operating segments to senior management.
